Eat More Chilies

Chile de Arbol:

Chile de arbol is pronounced cheel ay day ar boll. Chiles de arbol are narrow, curved chilies that start out green and mature to a bright red in color. The arbol chile is very hot, and is also related to the cayenne pepper. Be careful during preparation. The oil in the chile arbol, as well as many other hot chiles, can be extremely irritating to the eyes or any small cuts on the hands, so it may be a good idea to wear gloves while handling (trust us on this one)! Arbol chilis are also the peppers that are dried after turning red and used in numerous holiday and decorative wreaths.

The Arbol Chile pepper rates between 15,000 and 30,000 Scoville units on the heat index.
